Louisita Abeyta

Louisita Abeyta, born July 3, 1941, passed away on June 9, 2026 at home surrounded by her family.  Louisita was the oldest surviving daughter born to Senaida and Eugenio Martines of El Camen, NM.  At the age of 18, she married Leroy Abeyta and was blessed to be married 62 years.  Louisita was preceded in death by her parents Eugenio and Senaida Martinez; brothers:  Frank and Johnny Martinez; brother-in-law Will Renterria, Felix Archuleta and sister-in-law Gloria Martinez and a great-granddaughter Aliyah Marquez.  She had three children:  Oliver Abeyta, Clarence Abeta, and Christine Abeyta (Jim Cassidy).  She has eleven grandchildren:  Miranda Abeyta, Natasha Ayres, Flavio Vigil, Delilah Abeyta, Serena Marquez (Michael), Julio Vigil (Shanel Fernandez), Nasaria Garcia, Leticia Vigil, Liana Vigil, Andres Abeyta, and Leroy Abeyta.  Eight great-grandchildren:  Sean Abeyta, Daniel Abeyta, Riley Marquez, Miguel Marquez, Estevan Marquez, Julio C. R. Vigil, Ophelia Vigil and Ivory Vigil.  Louisita’s surviving siblings are Eugenio Martinez, Willie Martinez (Joann), Margie Renterria, Sophia Archuleta, Ted Martinez (Betsy), Prescilla Garcia (Delano), Linda Valdez (Michael), and many other extended family members.

            Louisita loved people and she loved to talk to people.  She loved to cook and loved to cook for everyone.  She not only cared for all her family she cared for so many others having worked with kids almost all her life.  She loved traveling with her kids and grandkids.  She made so many special memories with each and ever one of them.  Louisita had a work ethic like no other and was such a strong energetic woman always wanting to keep moving and working.  Louisita was not one to go to funerals.  She believed in wanting to remember people as they were.  Instead she always sent families sopapillas.  Something she will always be remembered for.

Due to her personal request, a private burial will be held at a later date for family.  We respectfully ask for your prayers for the family during this difficult time, and to remember her as she loved remembering others.  May she rest in eternal peace.
