MANUEL S. FERNANDEZ
Manuel S. Fernandez, 82, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at his home on Tuesday following an extended illness. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Las Vegas; one daughter, Mary Gallegos and husband Dino of Las Vegas; two brothers, Jose Saucedo of Gomez Palacio, Mexico and Robert Saucedo of Juarez, Mexico; one sister, Martha Saucedo of Saltillo, Mexico; one grandson, Robert Gonzalez and wife Andrea of Las Vegas, NM; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Amor, and Luna Gonzales. They often referred to Mr. Fernandez as "Grandpa Pumpkin".He was born in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico on November 25, 1924 to the late Juan Francisco Saucedo and Francisca Fernandez. He married Patricia Magruder in Delta, Colorado on August 16, 2000. He worked as a miller for a saw mill in Montrose, Colorado for over 20 years and also worked for the Duke City Lumber Company at their sawmill in Espanola for six to seven years. He loved to hunt, fish, and carpentry work.Cremation has already taken place and a rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church.
