Margaret A. (Maes) Vigil

Margaret A. Vigil, 61, a resident of Cleveland, NM and former resident of Corrales, NM, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Margaret was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Ruperto Maes and a brother, Gilbert Maes. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Melvin O. Vigil of Cleveland, NM; daughters Wendy Candelaria and husband Shane of Corrales, NM, Audrey Archuleta and husband Angelo of Los Alamitos, NM; a son, Bryan Vigil and wife Alicia of Rio Rancho, NM; and an adopted son Jason Duda of Alcalde, NM that she loved as her own and her precious grandchildren that she adored with her entire heart: Joaquin and Reina Archuleta, Christian and Alexander Vigil and Nathan Candelaria. Margaret is also survived by her mother and best friend Flora Maes of Cleveland, NM; her sister Patricia Lovato and husband Valentin of Las Vegas, NM and brothers Arthur Maes and wife Theresa of Santa Fe, NM and Eugene Maes and wife Geraldine and Kenneth Maes all of of Cleveland, NM and a special friend Carol Romero of Cleveland, NM; her compadres Juan and Sophia Archuleta and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her.
Cooking was her hobby and as a result of her cooking abilities VFW Post 1131 of Mora, NM adopted her as one of their own. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes and catering for different functions. She always wanted to make people happy.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. In Las Vegas, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held from St. Gertrudes Church in Mora with a rosary on Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow with the following serving as casket bearers: Victor Olivas, Alfie Olivas, Arturo Olivas, J. B. Olivas, George Olivas, and Patrick Lujan. Honorary bearers will be Della Herrera, Stella Romero, and Evelyn Sanchez.
