MARY D. FULGENZI
Mary D. Fulgenzi, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Friday at St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Santa Fe after a series of illnesses over the past half-year. She was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony Fulgenzi and her three children: Thomas, Rita, and Tony. She is survived by her brother, Joe Delgado and wife Mary; daughter-in-law, Mickey Fulgenzi, her only (and greatly beloved) grandchild, Debbie Fulgenzi Dubois and husband Lee, and great-grandson, Rio Fulgenzi Dubois all of Las Vegas, NM. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. Lawrence Fulgenzi and wife Betty of Stillwater, OK.She was born on April 5, 1921 to the late Jose and Corina Martinez Delgado here in Las Vegas. Mary will be long remembered by her friends and family as the ultimate hostess. In her youth she was a flamenco dancer at the family supper club, El Ortiz. She attended New Mexico Normal School (now Highlands University) and was twice elected Fiesta Queen. She had a great love for gardening and was a master at making floral centerpieces. Over the last six years, while a patient at the Las Vegas Dialysis Center, she made it a point to try to brighten the day of both staff members and fellow patients by bringing snacks for everyone, even though she made no bones about the fact that she hated dialysis. Always regarded as a remarkable beautiful woman, even nurses who visited her in later years were always amazed by her perfect skin and youthful appearance, completely free of wrinkles in her eighties. She enjoyed singing to her five-year old great-grandson, Rio, and playing buried treasure with him by hiding objects under sofa cushions.Cremation has already taken place and services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the family plot in the San Jose Cemetery.
