Nathan Anthony Martinez

Nathan Anthony Martinez, 25, a life long resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 as a result of a one car roll over near Rowe, NM on Interstate #25. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Glenna Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; one brother Lucas Martinez and a sister KiAnna Martinez all of the family home. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Orlando and Beatrice Gold of Las Vegas, NM; his paternal grandfather, Joe Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; his paternal grandmother, Emma Martinez of Tecolote, NM; his great-grandmother, Lucinda Yara of Las Vegas, NM; an uncle, Orlando Gold Jr.and wife Krista of Las Vegas, NM; an aunt, Jolene Archuleta and companion Chris Hernandez of Las Vegas, NM; his girl friend, LeAnn Herrera of Las Vegas, NM; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was born here in Las Vegas on March 9, 1987 and was a 2005 graduate of West Las Vegas High School. He was a fire fighter for the U S Forest Service and enjoyed hanging out with his friends. At the present time he was a correctional officer for the Santa Rosa Corrections Facility. He was on his way to Santa Fe to the Corrections Academy for his training when the accident happened.
Services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Friday, April 20, 2012 with a rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Father Douglas Mitchell will celebrate the Mass. His uncle, Gary Gold will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: David Gonzales, Dwayne Quintana, Joseph Quintana, David Yara, Daniel Yara, and Santiago Yara. Honorary casket bearers will be the rest of his cousins.
