NICK GALLEGOS
Nick Gallegos, 86, a resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 9, 2006. He was born in Chaperito, NM on April 14, 1920 to the late Guadalupe Sena Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Luis Gallegos and Pedro Gallegos; sisters: Eufelia Castillo, Catalina Gallegos, Eva Cockerham, Amalia Encinias, Modesta Garcia and Frances Arguello.
He is survived by a sister, Predicanda Ortiz of Las Vegas; special niece Virginia Gentry and husband Edward of Las Vegas, NM; special nephew, Carlos Ortiz and wife Diana of Montezuma, NM; niece: Trini Garcia of Santa Fe, NM and numerous other nieces and nephews.Nick was a life-long catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. He served his country enlisting for two terms in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant from World War II in 1945. After his military career he moved to San Francisco, CA where he lived and worked. He retired to Las Vegas in 1986. Nick enjoyed gardening, cooking, and doing work around the house. He loved animals, especially dogs. He had dogs all his life and named each and every one of them "Fifi". Rosary services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 7:00 p. m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Father Patrick Duffy will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.gonzalesfunerals.com.
