Mrs. Ramona A. Duran, age 83, of Watrous, NM, passed away on July 22, 2025 at her residence in Watrous, NM. Ramona was born in Tiptonville, NM on July 11, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Eloy and Ageda Conway.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Duran of 42 years; siblings: Jim, Tommy (Isabelle), Rudy, Eloy II, Freddy, Bobby, Josie (Sal), Theresa (Faustine), Stella (Nappy), and Anna.; in-laws mother/father Floripa and Estevan.; sisters-in-law: Lillian and Martha (Props); nieces and nephews: Vincent (Godson), Shelly (goddaughter), Sam, Rudy, Emilio, Patricia, Tara, Steve, and Leslie.
Ramona is survived by her children: Renee, Ronald, Richard, and chosen daughter, Melissa (Keith); grandchildren: Angelina, Erica, Vanessa, Darian, Damian, Carissa, Victoria, and Aaron; her one and only great-granddaughter, Jordynn; siblings: Leroy (Roberta) and Dorothy (Robert); in-laws: Doreen, Virginia, Bee, Sarah, Steve, and Dianne (Jim); special nieces and nephews: Phyllis, Gina, Luanna (goddaughter); Mark and Joe (godsons).
Ramona was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Ramona’s enjoyment were her visits from family and friends. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, ironing, quilting, crocheting, embroidering/painting kitchen towels and washcloths. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Watrous.
Services will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in Watrous, NM beginning with a Rosary at 6:00p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Father Augustine Henderson will celebrate the Mass. The interment of her cremains will be laid to rest in the Watrous Cemetery. Urn bearers will be Ramona’s grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
