Reneta C. Gallegos

Reneta C. Gallegos, 98, a long time resident of Las Vegas passed away at Alta Vista Regional Hospital on Saturday following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcos and Ignacita Duran Castellano; her husband, Jose O. Gallegos; a son, Jimmy Gallegos; one daughter, Tita C de Baca; two grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sons: Tony B. Gallegos and wife Della of North Glen, CO and Donnie R. Gallegos and wife Alice of Las Vegas, NM; one daughter, Angela Sanchez and husband Pablo of Las Vegas; a special grandson, Geno Apodaca of Las Vegas, NM; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and special friends, Becky Lujan, Stella Gonzales, and Ida Brewer. She was born in Chapelle, NM on June 1, 1910 and was a house keeper at the New Mexico State Hospital prior to her retirement. She was known for her quilt making, story telling. She loved to read, canning pickles and peaches, and enjoyed her vegetable garden.
A rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at the same church at 9:00 a.m. Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass. Cremation will take place after the services and the burial will take place at a later date.
