Robert "Bobby" Loera

Robert E. Loera known as "Bobby" age 68 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2008. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #806, the Holy Name Society, and the NM Barbers Independent Association.He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Frances Loera of Las Vegas; one daughter, Francine Loera-Stoyell and husband Chris of Albuquerque; his son Robert Loera of Las Vegas; a granddaughter his pride and joy, Mya Loera and special nephew Simon Cordova; three brothers, Greg Loera and wife Joanne, Louie Loera and wife Andrea, and Gilbert Loera and wife Mary all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Olivia Gutrierrez of Albuquerque, NM, Liz Romero of Mora, NM, and Terri Fry of Albuquerque, NM; a sister-in-law, Lucy Parada and numerous nieces and nephews.Bobby was born in Las Vegas, NM on November 2, 1939 to the late Gregorio and Aurora Loera. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Rita Romero and Dolores Loera and brother, Ernest Loera.
He graduated from West Las Vegas High School and attended New Mexico Highlands University and graduated from the El Paso Barber School in 1962. He was a long time businessman in Las Vegas and was the owner and operator of Bobby's Barber and Beauty Shop for 42 years until he closed his doors in July of 2008. Bobby was an active community member and local sponsor of the Los Amigos adult softball team and sponsored several little league teams throughout the years. Bobby's hobbies included camping, fishing, working on his vehicles, yard work, and going to the casino playing blackjack and his favorite bingo. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. Las Vegas. A rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the same church. Memorials may be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The interment will follow in San Jose Cemetery.
