Robert M. Lujan, 81, a well known musician, passed on to eternal life on Thursday, November 5, 2009 with his family by his side following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Gregorita and Jacobo Lujan; two grandchildren: Greg and Antoinette Jaramillo; one brother, Joe Lujan; three sisters: Ignacia Ramirez, Lea Rose Lucero, and Aurora Silva; his mother-in-law, Aurelia Barela; and four brothers-in-law: Tane and Felix Barela, and Johnny and Ben Arguello.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Flora Barela Lujan of Las Vegas, NM; four daughters: Nanette Lujan-Abeyta and husband Ruben of Santa Fe, NM, Maxine Gallegos and husband Leonard , and Barbara Perea and husband Hank all of Albuquerque, NM; and Roberta Lujan of Thorton, CO; one son, Jack Lujan of Las Vegas, NM; a loving grandfather to Anthony Jaramillo and wife Annette, April Lujan, Greg and Latisha Gallegos, Vinny and Stacy Perea all of Albuquerque, NM, Cindy Olguin and husband Ezquiel of Santa Fe, NM, Robert Joe Lujan of Las Vegas, NM, and Josette Medina of Thornton, CO.; five great-grandchildren: Jayden, Joshua Jaramillo, and Chantel Lujan all of Albuquerque; and Alyssa and Iseah Olguin of Santa Fe; a sister, Bennie Roybal of Las Vegas, NM; two sisters-in-law, Angelina Trujillo and Lydia Jacquez both of Las Vegas, NM; three brothers-in-law, Domingo Barela and Patrick Arguello both of Las Vegas, NM and Christy Arguello and wife Sandra of Las Vegas, NV; many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Mr. Lujan was born on December 10, 1927 and was united in marriage to Flora Barela, the love of his life on November 24, 1949 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. He was a talented musician and loved to play his guitar and accordian and serenade his wife, children and grandchildren at every opportunity. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and loved the outdoors and took care of the grotto and some cemetery plots in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. All services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Cremation will follow and the interment will be at a later date. Casket bearers will be Anthony Jaramillo, Robert Joe Lujan, Greg Gallegos, Vinny Perea, Leonard Gallegos , and Hank Perea.
