ROBERT L. NORDIKE
Robert L. "Bob" Nordike, 76, a resident of Las Vegas, NM since 2006, passed away on Friday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Gladys Nordike; a brother, Lloyd Nordike; and his wife, Virginia Nordike.
He is survived by one daughter, Leanne North and husband Dion of Oceanside, CA; a son, Mark Nordike of St. Galen, Switzerland; his companion, Diane Jahrman of Las Vegas, NM and her children Eddie Dalton of Aurora, CO, Cindy Gomez of Rociada, NM and her children, Liana and Alan; and Susan Jamison of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Marcos Padilla, and Andrew and Ashley North; and three brothers: Lewis Nordike and companion Joan of Independence, MO, Frankie Nordike of Carlyle, IL, and Donald Nordike of Pasedena, CA.
He was born in Carlyle, IL on April 12, 1936. At the age of 17 he joined the U. S. Navy and retired after 50 years of military and civil service. His specialty was an aviation mechanic and his last duty with the U. S. Navy was with Fighter Squadron #121. He received his fifth Good Conduct Award, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on May 3, 1973. Over the years he resided in California, Missouri, Arizona, Illinois, and finally settled in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was known for is Eagle Collection and love of miliary planes. The last years of his life he enjoyed traveling to many destinations with his companion, Diane.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, NM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
