Roy Romero, 83, a resident of Long Beach, CA passed away on Monday at the Pine Villa Assisted Living Facility in Long Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Isabel Paiz Romero and his wife Antonia Fresquez. He is survived by one son, Richard Roy Romero and wife Clarisa of Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Cynthia Romero and husband Keith of Avon, CT; one sister, Sylvia Romero of Albuquerque, NM, and by six grandchildren: Moryma Aydelott and Melissa Sherman both of Washington, DC, Daniel Romero and Lora Romero both of Long Beach, CA, and James Sherman of Syracuse, NY.
He was born in Rawlins, WY on September 20, 1926. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and attended New Mexico Highlands University for two years. He worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and was an electronic technician for Northrop, and McDonald Douglas Aviation. He retired in 1985 and was a courier for the Bank of Las Vegas between Las Vegas, Mora, and Pecos. His hobbies included wood working, gardening, model airplanes, and cars.
A rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p. m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the San Antonio
Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland, New Mexico.
