SYLVIA J. MONTOYA

Sylvia J. Montoya, 63, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Friday at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horacio R. and Maria Padilla Montano; sisters: Lucille Romero and Rebecca Montano; and brothers, Gilbert, Ernest, and Leroy Montano.
She is survived by one daughter, Bernadette Montoya of Las Vegas; two sons, Frank Montoya and companion Norvella of Rio Rancho, NM and Tino Montoya of Las Vegas, NM; four brothers, Dennis Sandy, Albert Montano of Greeley, CO, Tony Montano and wife Theresa of Rio Rancho, NM, an Eldon Montano of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Brenda T. Rogers and husband Billy of Las Vegas, Anna Montano and companion Mark Ulibarri and Sally Ulibarri and husband Rafael all of Clovis, NM; four grandchildren, Isaiah Montoya of Las Vegas, Tamara Montoya of Rio Rancho, NM, Savannah Montoya and Trista Montoya both of Las Vegas, NM; and by numerous nieces and nephews.She was born here in Las Vegas on May 6, 1943 and worked as a nurses aide for the New Mexico State Hospital for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles.Cremation has already taken place and services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the American Diabetes Association.
