Silviano Sisneros, 82, a long time resident of Las Vegas and formerly of Anton Chico, NM, passed away on Friday. He was preceded in death by his parents: Enrique and Cleotilde Sisneros, his sisters: Estefana Lucero, Natividad Sisneros, and Amalia Jaramillo; his brothers, Casimiro,Francisco, Encarnacion, Enrique, and Vicente Sisneros.
He is survived by his sister, Lucy Higgins of LasVegas, NM; special nieces Mary Sandoval of Las Vegas, NM and Elaine Rowin of Anton Chico, NM; numerous other nieces and nephews and the staff at Ponderosa. Born in Anton Chico, NM on May 4, 1927, he was a life long catholic and was a Korean War Veteran. He served with the Battery B 740th AAA Battalion as a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on June 17, 1954 in San Francisco, CA. He was a masonry construction worker and lived most of his adult life in Albuquerque. After he left Albuquerque he came back to Anton Chico and had a small ranch that he managed. He enjoyed his friends.
A rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations. The Mass of Christian Burial was recited on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with the interment in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Father C. John Brasher celebrated the Mass. Serving as casket bearers were Paul Vigil, Pasqual, Barney, and Jimmy Jaramillo, Eric Sandoval, and Andres Aragon. Phil Trujillo delivered the eulogy. Members of V. F.W. Post #1547 performed the military honors after the rosary. Honorary bearers were all his friends at Ponderosa.
