Vicente Sisneros

Vicente Sisneros a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at Ponderosa Four at the New Mexico Behavorial Health Institute on Saturday evening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Cleotilde Ulibarri Sisneros; three sisters: Estefana Lucero, Amalie Jaramillo, and Natividad Sisneros and four brothers: Casimiro, Enrique, Encarnacion, and Francisco Sisneros.
He was born on February 27, 1905 in Cuervo, NM. He was the second oldest of ten children. He celebrated his 103rd birthday on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. He is survived by his brother, Silviano Sisneros and a sister, Lucy Higgins both of Las Vegas, NM, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.Vicente lived in Los Ranchitos near Anton Chico. While there he lived with his brothers and sister. He worked alongside his brothers operating a small farm. He lived a rich and full life from breaking horses as a young man to becoming a good sheep shearer. Vicente was known throughout Northeastern New Mexico for his ability to hand-shear a flock of sheep in a day. Vicente enjoyed visiting with his friends. He loved to play cards and enjoyed braiding leather. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at Ponderosa 1 and 4 for the wonderful care given during his stay. Thank you to the activity department, housekeeping department, dietary department and his social worker. Vicente truly enjoyed the friendship and tender loving care he received.A rosary will be recited today at 2:30 p.m. from the New Mexico Behavorial Health All Faiths Chapel. Another rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery.
