Zacarias Isabel Cordova, 82, a resident of El Segundo, CA, passed away in Tucson, Arizona last Friday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernadino and Aurelia Cordova; his wife Cora Cordova; sisters: Feliciana Mata, Eloisa Mata, Domie Cordova and Gomi Montano; and two brothers, Pablo, Pedro, and Bernadino.
He is survived by two daughters, Stella Cordova and husband Chris Giles of El Segundo, CA and Cora Cordova of Redondo Beach, CA; one son, Leonard Cordova of El Segundo, CA; two sisters, Bernice Paiz of Albuquerque, NM and Aurora Santostefano of Middletown, Connecticut; and by two granddaughters, Dina Giles of El Segundo, CA and Molly McCoy of Redondo Beach, CA.
He was born on November 5, 1928 in Mosquero Canyon, New Mexico and enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his military duty he returned home, got married and lived in Las Vegas, NM while attending New Mexico Highlands University. In 1961 he moved to Los Angeles, CA and was an electronic in the aerospace industry working for the Teledyne Corporation.
A rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the Holy Family Church in Roy, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. from the same church. Father Paul Knumbi will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Roy, NM with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 77 of Logan, New Mexico. Serving as casket bearers will be Leonard Cordova, Martin Paiz, Sal and Eugene Flores, Joe Paiz, Rudy and Vidal Cordova and Chris Giles.
