Cecilio Lujan, 83, a long time resident of Las Vegas, passed away in the arms of his loving family on Thursday following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents: Elauterio and Amatilda Encinias Lujan; his wife Emma Lujan; brothers: Damian Lujan, Samuel Lujan, Cipriano Lujan, and Benjamin Lujan; a sister, Deluvina Trujillo; and a brother-in-law, Felipe Mares.
He is survived by three daughters, L. Elizabeth Galloway of Albuquerque, Rebecca Lujan of Las Vegas, NM, and Joyce Lujan also of Albuquerque, NM; two brothers, Juan Lujan and wife Amy of Albuquerque and Elizardo Lujan of Las Vegas, NM; ; two grandchildren: Jason Galloway and wife Daniel and Justin Galloway all of Albuquerque, NM; and one great grand child: Shea Galloway of Albuquerque, NM and the following brothers and sisters in law: Wilfred Mares and wife Thelma, Mary Mares, Rebecca Vigil and husband Fernando, Jennie Mares, and Petra Lujan all of Las Vegas, NM, and Petra Lujan of Albuquerque, NM; and by numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Lujan attended the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Public Service Company of New Mexico for 30 years as an estimator and retired in 1985. He enjoyed ranching, stream fishing, and wood working. He was a member of Post 12 of the American Legion and was a volunteer fireman for the E. Romero Hose and Fire Company.Cremation has already taken place and services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Tuesday evening, November 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.. The interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
