ANTHONY J. MAES MARTINEZ
A rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church for 18 year old Anthony J. Maes Martinez, a senior at Robertson High School who passed away last Wednesday at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Sapello, NM.He was preceded in death by his mother, Tanya Martinez; his paternal grandmother, Ignacita Martinez; an aunt, Connie Wildenstein, and a cousin, Adrian Urioste. He is survived by his parents, Ernest "Archie" Martinez and his wife Loretta of Manuelitas, NM; five brothers, Gilbert Maes and Julian Gonzales of Las Vegas, Ernest A Martinez Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Las Vegas, Edward Albert Martinez of Holman, NM, Jonathan Martinez and companion Amanda of Los Lunas, NM; five sisters, Caroline Maes of Las Vegas, Petrita Chavez and husband James of Albuquerque, NM, Anita Lucero and husband Eric of Albuquerque, Amanda Martinez and Santana F. Martinez both of Manuelitas, NM; his former foster parents, Iris and Mike Griego and their family of Las Vegas, special friend Bianca Martinez of Gascon, NM, his grandparents, Lorenzo & Eva Gonzales of San Augustine, Carmen Martinez of Gonzales Ranch, and Justo Martinez of Las Vegas, and by several aunts, uncle, niece and nephews. He was a senior at Robertson High School and at Robertson was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the San Miguel County 4-H Club and the Whittington Rifle Club in Raton, NM. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Sapello-Rociada Fire District and he was a bull rider and enjoyed logging with his Dad and riding horses, camping, enjoying the wilderness, back packing, and helping every body.
