JOSIE M. SALAZAR
Josie M. Salazar, 67, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Domingo and Juanita Gallegos; her loving grandson, John "Pac-Man" Salazar, and a special niece, Marcella Dodds.She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sam Salazar of Las Vegas; one daughter, Joanne Salazar; two sons, Steve Salazar and wife Ruby of Los Lunas, NM and Sam Salazar Jr. and wife Elaine of Las Vegas; one brother, Gabby Gallegos and wife Rosemary of San Jose, CA; a brother-in-law, Frank Salazar and wife Pauline of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law, Georgia Salazar and family of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren: Andrew Salazar and wife Henrietta, Josette Montoya and fiancé Mario Ramirez, Valerie Gallegos and husband Ruben, Angela Garcia and husband Jusin, John Romero, Andrea Padilla and husband Chris, and Jesse Salazar; and by 10 great-grandchildren.
She was born in San Jose, New Mexico on August 28, 1938 and married Sam Salazar on December 1, 1954 in Oakland, California. She retired after 25 years from the New Mexico Highlands University Cafeteria, and was a life member of the V. F. W. Post #1547 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to crochet and embroidery, play bingo and enjoyed the slots at the casinos.
A visitation will be held today from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father C. John Brasher on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church.
