Margaret (Alire) Herrera

Margaret Alire Herrera, 92, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Rio Rancho, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Estefanita Gonzales Alire; her husband Jose E. Herrera and two sisters, Rafaela Solano and Mary Madrid, Frances Solano, Benny Alire, and Johnny Alire.
She is survived by three daughters, Yolanda and Stefanie Herrera of Albuquerque, NM and Therese Elmer and husband Larry of San Antonio, TX; one son, Macario Herrera of Coeur d'Alane, ID; one sister, Irene Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Anthony Alire and wife Winifred of Reedly, CA; five grandchildren: Michael, Elmer and wife Tasha, Joshua Herrera, and Matthew and Mark; and one great-granddaughter, Angela Elmer; and by numerous nieces and nephews, and a former daughter-in-law, Victoria Herrera Bunch.
She was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 20, 1925 and received her early education at New Mexico Highlands University. and was the program administrator there for several years.
Graveside committal services will be held in the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
